Dear Diet Culture...
It's not us, it’s you. You’re manipulative, abusive, and severely lack inclusivity. You’re not the solution, you’re the problem.
You’ve created a false representation of health that discriminates, catalyzes eating disorders, body dysmorphia, self-hate, and overlooks mental health.
You’ve taught us to mistrust and disapprove of our bodies. You spread insidious lies. You convince us we’ll only be healthy, happy, and successful if we’re small and stay small forever. You tell us we have to be good, perfect, and behave.
You berate us for being human, and fail to acknowledge our wholeness. You don’t address mental health, you exacerbate it. Your arbitrary rules cause anxiety, guilt, and shame.
We’re sick of hearing we’d look better if we’d lose weight. We’re tired of trying to adhere to rules that override our system, and make no sense for our lives. We’re done feeling crazy when we decided to trust our bodies, instead of you. We’re no longer listening to you about how we should show up in the world.
We have a life to live, and we refuse to have you hold us back from living it any longer.
It’s over.
We’re moving on.
We’re coming back home to ourselves. We’re rebuilding the trust with ourselves. We know nourishing and taking care of ourselves isn’t a one-size fits all. We know it’s wildly different, and that health comes at every size. We’re going to practice love and acceptance and forgiveness. We’re going to live our life in accordance to what empowers us, our unique body, and our life.
Whose with me? Show of hands if you’re breaking up with diet culture.
If you’re struggling to break up with diet culture, if you’re looking to rebuild your relationship with food and your body - Empowerher Coaching might be the support you need.
Try this workout if you don’t have to have a lot of time to workout, despite the fitness industry demanding to get an hour in.
Full, bold embodiment is such a rare thing in a culture hell-bent on separating us from our truths.
Shifting your relationship with your body is not about what you say to yourself when you look in the mirror– it’s about all the ways you show up to live your life exactly as you please.
If you are struggling with how you feel in your body and feel like everyone else has moved on– you are not at all alone.
Stretching can make me feel amazing and sometimes I go through the motions because it makes such a difference in how I feel overall.
Better sex, clearer desires, more playfulness, “feel good” exercise habits, ease in relationships to food, these are some of the outcomes people report coming out of my coaching program.
Have you ever seen a woman so strikingly self assured, she isn't afraid to ask for what she wants?
Movement gets to be uniquely yours, and when you come to work with me—we discover what that looks like for you.
