What Do You See When You Look in the Mirror?

What if you looked in the mirror and *didn’t* have to approve of your appearance? What if you let go of the idea that you have to love the way your body looks?

Pause for a moment.

Really think about it.

Full permission to look in the mirror and say, “this is my body, and this is how it looks,” and that was the end of the story.

This conversation comes up frequently with my clients, and I like to relate it to body fluctuations.

Our bodies fluctuate, they’re malleable and change until death do us part, right? And, the way we relate to our body and our feelings about our body fluctuate, tooo.

When we give room and space and allow for those fluctuations, we can be more at peace with whatever is…including those days when we wake up and we don’t approve of how we look.

Because we will feel that way, and we will have those days. AND THAT IS OKAY.

There’s a lot of pressure to love the way your body looks, and feel comfortable and confident in your skin at all times—and that won’t always be our experience.

When we remove the unnecessary, and frankly unrealistic pressure and expectation—we can arrive at a more juicy place of acceptance.

Notice the difference between:

OMG here we are again. why do I hate my body so much? why do I constantly feel this way?

VS.

This is how my body looks today. this is how I feeel about my body today.

Play around with this the next time you’re struggling with body image, and take notice of how differently you feel and relate to yourself.

If you’re looking for one on one attention and support on your healing journey around body image and self—EmpowerHer might be just for you.
