The Method to Make Your Fitness Routine STICK

At the start of every year, you declare, “This is the year I’m going to finally get in the gym and stay consistent with a routine.”

For awhile, you are—until you aren’t again.

You desperately want to make it a priority, BUT, the same problems continue to get in your way...

1️⃣ You’re busy. Like, hello, you’re an adult, with a never-ending list of to-dos and responsibilities.

2️⃣ You’re unmotivated. I mean, sometimes you are, but most of the time you’re not. And it doesn’t help when you don’t enjoy the movement you committed too. Convincing yourself to do something you don’t enjoy is really, really hard.

So, here you are, yet again. And it all makes sense...of course you don’t want to go do something you don’t like, and when you don’t have time to do it—it makes it that much easier to not to do it all.

I have a solution for you.

This is the same advice I offer my clients and it’s allowed them to make it stick—not just for a couple months, but for like, the whole damn year.

The secret is to be adjustable and make it fun.

When you approach movement in a way that’s enjoyable, fun, and realistic to your schedule it makes consistency easy. And that’s the goal, isn’t it?

Moreover, you don’t have to follow the same routine month to month or even week to week. One month you could do yoga, the next you could lift weights.

AND, be realistic about your schedule, because you won’t always have the same amount of time to dedicate each week. Some weeks are busier than others. Some weeks you’ll be able to get in 45 min workouts, and other weeks you’ll only have time for 15 minutes.

That’s okay 👏

The important part is your honoring your body through movement weekly, and that’s really all that matters.

Ask yourself:
What’s going to keep me consistent?
What’s exciting to me?
What form of movement empowers me?
What connects me to my body?
What’s realistic? What fits within my schedule?
What’s fun?
