The Secret to Confidence No One is Telling You
If you want to feel confident AF in the gym (or confident with anything else in life), this is what you have to do:
⠀
Let’s begin this with a comparison.
⠀
It’s your first day at your new job, and you’re nervous.
⠀
You applied to the job, excited and confident in your ability to do what needs to be done. Your boss shows you around the building, and briefly describes how to operate everything.
⠀
And then immediately, you’re fed to the wolves, expected to know it all. You’re eager to keep this position, so you pretend that you do and decide you’ll figure it out as you go.
⠀
You’re walking on eggs shells, carefully ensuring you don’t crack your facade, and let people see you actually have no fucking idea what you’re doing.
⠀
But, thankfully, as more days pass on the job, things get easier. You start to get acquainted with the work.
⠀
After a month of consistently showing up to the job, you finally and actually know exactly what to do and how to do it. You’re so confident that you could even help the newbie on their first day.
⠀
That’s all it takes, honey. You’re not going to feel overly confident when you begin anything at first. Confidence comes from showing up, and putting in the work.
⠀
The beautiful thing is, you don’t need to feel confident to do something. Sure, it’s nice to have, it makes it a hell of a lot easier, but it’s not necessary in order to take action.
⠀
You can feel anxious, nervous, and an overwhelming amount of trepidation and still do it anyway.
⠀
You’re brave. And thankfully, it’s just the gym—not a job. You’re not going to get fired. And, I gaurentee if you mess something up, no one will know because more than half the population at the gym also has no fucking idea what they’re doing.
⠀
I promise, with frequency and familiarity, things get easier, and you start to exude with confidence. Keep showing up, that fear will soon fade away.
