Can You Accept Yourself and Still Want to Change Yourself?

How can you accept yourself, when there’s always more room to grow, right?

There’s this beautiful paradox I love: you can accept yourself and still have the desire to change yourself.

It’s being able to say, hey I’m enough as I am AND I kinda wouldn’t mind maturing in this area of my life.

Self-acceptance doesn’t mean you think you’re so perfect, that your work and growth here is done; nor does it mean, you’re choosing complacency, stagnation, or resignation.

Acceptance is really just about putting the end to the war you’re at with yourself. As opposed to being fueled by self-deprecation to change which just prevents you from being happy with yourself right now; you’ll constantly fixate on everything you don’t like & tell yourself the story of I “need” to change to be enough. It completely DESTROYS your confidence, worthiness, and happiness.

Acceptance looks like observing all the facets of yourself—even the parts you don’t like—and being able to say it’s okay and I’m still enough.

In the simplest terms, acceptance is noticing things about yourself, free of judgment and criticism. To see what is, to accept what is, and move forward with your life.⠀

Accept yourself and watch yourself grow from a healthier and happier place 🌱
