Are You Afraid to Gain Weight this Holiday?

I used to wake up consumed by fear, wondering how much weight I gained from the holiday food splurges.

My relationship with food and my body was radically fucked. Everything was centered around looking a certain way, which meant following drastic protocols, at all times—even on the holidays.

This damaged relationship held me back from experiencing life, or at least experiencing it without guilt.

I’d either attend social gatherings, which inevitably lead to standing in front of the mirror the next day, in utter disgust, berating myself for not sticking to the plan. Or, I’d avoid going all together...just to lose weight faster (🙄).

Fucked, right? Fucked, yet an epidemic so many people struggle with, and you might be one of them...yeah?

If you woke up today, riddled with guilt about your choices yesterday, upset with how you look, feeling the urge to workout harder, & eat less—I see you.

Heed my words: you’re not alone and you’re more than okay.

Ok?

You don’t need to stop eating today, do 60+ minutes of vigorous exercise, and you definitely don’t need to castigate yourself.

Instead, I‘m inviting you to explore different approaches, here are *some* ideas:

>> Remove guilt from your vocabulary. My guess is, yesterday you had fun with your people and had foods you loved, right? You have no reason to feel guilty for that. End of story.

>> Unfollow anyone on IG who triggers this negative cycle. Follow body positivity accounts and consume their content.

>> Don’t step on the scale.

>> Know that your disordered patterns are not your fault. You were taught to hate yourself, and the wonderful thing is you also have the power to unlearn it.

>> Do something that makes you really happy today, because you fucking deserve it.

>> Consider working with a body-image coach (like me), eating disorder recovery coach, or seeing a therapist.

You’ve got this, boo.
